Indian River County Children’s Services Advisory Committee

In presenting the Indian River County Budget Outlook for 2015 – 2016, Jason Brown indicated $ 200,000 is being allocated to the Children’s Services Program, which is being matched by private donations.
For those of you who don’t know, on November 6, 1990 Indian River County passed a Resolution creating a Children’s Services Advisory Committee to provide funding for children;s services throughout the County.
Under Section 3 of the Resolution, “The Committee shall be charged specifically with the duty to:
a) Inventory current child welfare services available to Indian River County;
b) Conduct a needs assessment for services required for children in Indian River County;
c) Recommend a plan for providing any additional needed child welfare services to the Board of County Commissioners, and
d) Submit recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on any matters affecting the welfare of the children of Indian River County.
We will provide excerpts from the children’s need assessment in a later Communique.
