Florida Conservancy / Banyan Park Project

Banyan Tree

FLORIDA CONSERVANCY, A NEW 501 (c) (3) NONPROFIT located in downtown Vero Beach, is working to protect and conserve land, water, and cultural resources in our region. Our first urban green space project aims to protect the beautiful banyan trees on the historic Humiston homestead site. In honor of Dr. Humiston and his tireless efforts to beautify our city through the Vero Beautification Society (founded in 1924), we have helped launch a fundraising campaign to purchase and protect these iconic banyans at 2432 20th Street in McAnsh Park. The property is currently on the market for sale, and its development will certainly destroy the trees. Florida Conservancy and our partners – Portfolio-verobeach, Off Island Studio, and Grind & Grape – hope you will join our effort to save the trees, create a park, and grow a community.
