The list of charitable projects supported by Rotary Club of Vero Beach Sunrise include:

Our Environment:

On our annual Youth Guidance Fishing trip Sunrise Rotary Vero Beach partnered with Environmental Learning Center, Vero Beach, to help local underprivileged children develop an appreciation for The Indian River Lagoon and its ecosystem.

Rotary Initiative for Submerged Sea Grass Awareness (RISSA) coordinates the assembly and placement of thousands of “oyster mats” in the Lagoon that help clean and protect our environment.

Our Youth:

The Club collects food for Hope For Families Center each month.

Club members volunteer at the Citrus Elementary “Adopt a School” program by reading, greeting, and mentoring students.

It awarded four laptop computers to contest winners of the Accelerated Reading Program at the Middle School level.

It awards numerous scholarships annually to deserving high school students who exhibit excellence in Music, Interact Club involvement, Vocational, and “Service Above Self” involvement in our community.

Local high school students are sponsored each summer and school year for Rotary Youth Exchange programs. This year seven children are enrolled in the programs.

The Club’s “Growing Healthy Kids” project educates kids about the importance of good nutrition and maintaining a healthy body and mind.

Our Seniors:

The Club helps St. Francis Manor of Vero Beach with Mother’s Day flowers and occasionally with other needs such at their donation of a defibrillator. It “match booked” them for their new building project “Growing Homes at the Manor.” (They gave them $10,000 if they could match it and they did.)

International Service:

Members of the Club visit the Dominican Republic at least twice a year to identify needs, work with communities, and fund sustainable water, literacy, and dental clinic projects. They even sent them a school bus.

The Club donates to and supports the end of Polio with a five Rotary club fundraiser each October. Along with the other other Rotary clubs in Vero Beach, it is called Oktoberfest. So far the clubs have raised over $50,000 with these fundraisers which is matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. So that means a total donation of $100,000 from the five clubs.

Please come, enjoy the festival and help make our community stronger.
