The Sunrise Rotary Club of Vero Beach, FL Uses the Florida Craft Brew & Wingfest to Support at Least 11 Charitable Projects. 12,000 People are Expected on February 18, 2017.

The Sixth Annual Craft Brew and Wingfest will be held on February 18, 2017.

Please join the festival for a day of craft brew sampling and delicious food from 11:30 am to 4:00 p.m. A fun spirited time will be had by everyone at this FREE family friendly community event.

The event will be held at Royal Palm Pointe Park on mainland Vero Beach off Indian River Boulevard just south of the Merrill Barber Bridge. Parking is available in 800 spaces along the Pointe, with secondary parking and bus transportation from the Parc24 garage on Indian River Blvd, ½ mile south of the event, between the Bridges. Water transportation from Riverside Park will be available.

Last year the community responded when over 10,000 attendees showed! Guests with an ID may purchase a bracelet at the event allowing tastes of over 150 Craft and Micro Brews at booths throughout the City park, or may purchase single glasses of selected beers. Unlimited tasting bracelets are $35.00 at the door on Saturday!

Local restaurants and groups will sell flavorful chicken wings to the attendees, competing for the “Best Vero Beach Wings” designation. Other food items from Royal Palm Pointe establishments, as well as sodas and kid-friendly food will be available for purchase.

Two stages and four bands will provide entertainment.

Proceeds benefit the charitable projects of the Vero Beach Sunrise Rotary Club. The festive is made possible through the generous support of our local business community who sponsor the brew tents, bands and logistical needs of this great free event.

The list of charitable projects supported by Rotary Club of Vero Beach Sunrise include:

Our Environment:

On our annual Youth Guidance Fishing trip Sunrise Rotary Vero Beach partnered with Environmental Learning Center, Vero Beach, to help local underprivileged children develop an appreciation for The Indian River Lagoon and its ecosystem.

Rotary Initiative for Submerged Sea Grass Awareness (RISSA) coordinates the assembly and placement of thousands of “oyster mats” in the Lagoon that help clean and protect our environment.

Our Youth:

The Club collects food for Hope For Families Center each month.

Club members volunteer at the Citrus Elementary “Adopt a School” program by reading, greeting, and mentoring students.

It awarded four laptop computers to contest winners of the Accelerated Reading Program at the Middle School level.

It awards numerous scholarships annually to deserving high school students who exhibit excellence in Music, Interact Club involvement, Vocational, and “Service Above Self” involvement in our community.

Local high school students are sponsored each summer and school year for Rotary Youth Exchange programs. This year seven children are enrolled in the programs.

The Club’s “Growing Healthy Kids” project educates kids about the importance of good nutrition and maintaining a healthy body and mind.

Our Seniors:

The Club helps St. Francis Manor of Vero Beach with Mother’s Day flowers and occasionally with other needs such at their donation of a defibrillator. It “match booked” them for their new building project “Growing Homes at the Manor.” (They gave them $10,000 if they could match it and they did.)

International Service:

Members of the Club visit the Dominican Republic at least twice a year to identify needs, work with communities, and fund sustainable water, literacy, and dental clinic projects. They even sent them a school bus.

The Club donates to and supports the end of Polio with a five Rotary club fundraiser each October. Along with the other other Rotary clubs in Vero Beach, it is called Oktoberfest. So far the clubs have raised over $50,000 with these fundraisers which is matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. So that means a total donation of $100,000 from the five clubs.

Please come, enjoy the festival and help make our community stronger.
