Manatees Dying in Droves on Both Coasts of FL / WIRED

By: Carley, Fifth Grade, Glendale Elementary, Vero Beach, FL.

Manatees in the Indian River Lagoon are dying off slowly because of the pollution.

Pollution can cause harm to most animals because it makes algae and algae can kill almost all sea animals.

Algae will cover up the sun for all the sea grasses so the sea grasses will die and the animals have nothing to eat and then they would die of starvation.

Whenever there is no sea grasses manatees will have to rethink of something to eat for instance red seaweed.

Pollution is caused by people throwing garbage and other things into the Lagoon instead of just waiting until they get home or to their destination.

So really pollution is caused by us humans because we are to lazy to throw things away and just throw them out of their window and leave it there for the Lagoon, the ocean, and everywhere else that can harm animals.
